  • Kristy Kane Mapes

    Kristy is the owner & artistic director of Kane Dance Academy. She opened the academy 42 years ago in 1983 and it continues to grow stronger every year. She teaches Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Specialty Classes. Kristy has done a variety of choreography work such as Theatre, Television, Industrials, and more. She has taught several award-winning dance and cheer competition routines. She has done choreography for the L.A. Clipper Girls, the Osmond’s and the Peach Bowl in Georgia. She taught for Dupree Dance Convention for 13 years where she traveled through the U.S. and Canada. She also taught for “Hollywood Dance Experience” for 13 years as well. She was the coach for the Earhart Spirit Squad and the Coach & Advisor for the Martin Luther King HS Pep Squad for 7 years. She is currently the Head Dance Coach and Director of Spirit Programs at California Baptist University. Her team has won Championships at USA Nationals in D1 Game Day, Pom and Jazz and has also won NDA College Nationals in D1 Pom. Miss Kristy is passionate about making KANE a place where students can only grow not only as dancers, but as young adults as well. Many of her KANE alumni worked or are currently working as professional dancers and teachers and she is looking forward to her 42nd year in business!

  • Kamila Akmal

    Kamila has been with Kane for the past 32 years, formerly as a dancer, and for the past 25 years as a teacher. Kamila teaches all ages in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and other specialty classes. As a dancer, she won numerous awards in competitions. Kamila graduated from Bethel High School in Riverside. She was the choreographer for King HS Showchoir and also worked for “Hollywood Dance Experience” where she traveled across the United States teaching convention classes. She is currently the dance coach at Hillcrest High School in Riverside, CA. Kamila is the Assistant studio director as well as the director and choreographer for our Kane Performance and Competition Teams. She puts a lot of time into making KANE such a wonderful place. Her students adore her & we truly appreciate all that she does.

  • Alexis Stroud

    Alexis has danced for 20 years and has taught at KANE for the past 5 years. She teaches numerous styles of dance including Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Pom, and Technique. She is a talented choreographer who has choreographed multiple award-winning routines. Lex attended Lakeside High School and was a member of their Varsity Dance Team. She has won many dance awards including the 2017 National Senior Miss Superstar, is a 3-time National Soloist at Starsystems, and a 2-time 1st Overall Senior Soloist. She graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing where she was also a 4-year member of the CBU Dance Team where she won 4 national titles at both NDA and USA Collegiate Nationals. She choreographed the 2022 CBU Dance Team D1 Jazz winning routine at USA Collegiate Championships. She also currently works for the United Spirit Association where she has been awarded “Rookie of the Year” and “MVP” awards. We are so grateful to have Miss Lex a part of our Kane Staff!

  • Aliyah Espinoza

    Aliyah has been with Kane for a total of 18 years. She spent 15 years dancing at Kane and this is her 3rd year teaching. She grew up dancing at Kane and was a part of both the Kane Scholarship Program and Kane Competition Team where she won numerous awards. Miss Aliyah teaches various styles of dance including lyrical, jazz, and tumbling. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2021 where she was on their Varsity Dance Team for 4 years. She is currently attending Arizona State University Online studying Forensic Psychology. We are so grateful to have Miss Aliyah as part of our Kane Staff and for all the amazing things she brings to our Kane family!

  • Alyssa Fisk

    Miss Alyssa is a former Kane dancer of 13 years and has taught 10 years at Kane. She has taught a variety of styles and choreographed award winning routines for our competition team. Miss Alyssa has also coached 3 years of Varsity cheer and was the founder of the Norco High School Dance Team. She attended San Diego State where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and competed on the SDSU Dance Team. She continued her education at California Baptist University where she attained her teaching credential and Master of Education. Miss Alyssa will be teaching and subbing contemporary and other styles this year and we are thrilled to have her on our KANE Staff and a part of the KANE family.

  • Camryn McCall

    Camryn has been dancing for 18 years and danced her entire life at KANE! She was a member of the KANE Competition Team where she won numerous awards and was also a part of the KANE Scholarship Program where she was Senior President her senior year! Camryn graduated from Santiago High School in 2022 where she was a member of the Santiago Hip-Hop team for two years. She currently attends California Baptist University where she is majoring in nursing, and is member of the CBU Dance Team. During her first season on the CBU Dance Team, she won three USA Collegiate Championships. Last year, she attended NDA college nationals with the team in Daytona Beach, Florida! She is looking forward to her 3rd year on the team. Camryn will be teaching numerous dance styles this year and loves being a part of KANE staff!

  • Devan Hansen

    Devan has been dancing for 19 years and has been teaching at KANE for the past 9 years. Devan teaches many styles of dance including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, and Contemporary. Devan attended Martin Luther King High School where she was a member of the Pom & Dance Team for four years. She currently coaches for the Dance Team at Miller Middle School and loves working with kids. Devan graduated from California Baptist University where she majored in Liberal Studies. While at CBU, Devan was also part of their D1 Dance Team for two years. She is also currently a 6th grade teacher at a local elementary school.

  • Kenadie Howard

    Kenadie grew up dancing at Kane for 15 years and has been a teacher at KANE for the past 5 years. She teaches Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. She graduated from Norco High School in 2019 where she was a member of their Varsity Dance Team all four years. She recently graduated from California Baptist University where she was a 4-year member of the CBU Dance Team and majored in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Mathematics. She is now pursuing her Masters degree at Western Governors University in hopes to become a middle school math teacher.

  • Kim Hansen

    Kim has been a part of KANE for the past 9 years and teaches a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical. Kim graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance. She is a current substitute teacher for RUSD and also the Head Coach for the Amelia Earhart Middle School Spirit Squad in Riverside, CA. Kim has four daughters who have all danced or currently dance at KANE as well. Miss Kim is also the teacher of our youngest class, “Creative Movement” and our little ones at KANE absolutely adore her!

  • Maddie Mapes

    Maddie has taught at KANE for the past 8 years and has been with KANE for a total of 25 years. She grew up dancing at Kane for 17 years and was the scholarship senior president as well as on our competition team for many years. She currently teaches master classes in Jazz, Pom, and other dance styles at KANE. She is also one of our competition choreographers where her routines have won several awards. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance and a minor in Food Studies. While at UCLA, she was a member of the UCLA Dance Team and loved every minute of it. She is currently a professional cheerleader in Las Vegas and looking forward to her fifth season with the squad and 3rd year as a captain. She is also a 5-time USA National Champion Choreographer and is going into her 9th year on staff for United Spirit Association.

  • Sydney Hansen

    Sydney has been dancing for 21 years and has been teaching on staff at KANE for the past 6 years. Sydney teaches all ages and various styles including Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. She graduated from Martin Luther King High School and was a member of the King Pom Team for four years. While on the team, she received numerous awards including winning a USA National Championship her senior year. Sydney continued to dance on the D1 Dance Team at California Baptist University where she won 2 USA National Championships and 1 NDA National Championship! Sydney is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Sydney has also been a USA Song instructor for the past 3 years and is currently a dancer in the parades at Disneyland!
